Planet IX is an online crypto game based on NFTs. The multiplayer strategy game takes place on the titular planet. Planet IX also acts as a metaverse; by connecting real-world geolocations to user generated virtual environments, it works as a bridge between the digital and the physical world. These environments can be claimed, bought, sold, and will eventually also be customizable. This will give the players the power to increase the value of their collection later on in the game.

Planet IX is a play-to-earn NFT-based strategy game that takes place on a virtual copy of Earth. Players aim to restore the desolate planet by collecting NFT lands called PIX. These PIX represent different landscapes, ranging from common deserts to legendary capital cities. The goal is to collect and connect as many PIX as possible to create coherent land territories on the map.

Players can acquire PIX lands by making initial NFT land investments, participating in automated missions through Mission Control, or raiding other players' lands to clean them and keep the bounty. They can earn in-game resources, IXT tokens (the game's cryptocurrency), and rewards by performing various activities and utilizing the facilities built on their lands.

The game revolves around NFTs, with players using tokens to acquire lands and earn rewards. Staking larger territories in the game's territory level system allows players to receive higher rewards.
